7. Feeling Down or Overwhelmed?
Do you feel down, overwhelmed or just unhappy? Lets start with the house and move on from there…
The House
If you’re overwhelmed about the condition of your home, don’t worry, this is simple to fix. You’re looking at everything at once and it seems too big. Don’t worry about being perfectionistic. A perfectionist is someone who doesn’t believe they’ll do it good enough, so they don’t do it at all, which leads to more mess. Three quarters done is better than zero done. Just jump in on the day you are in. Go to tab 3 - Easy Routines - at the very top of this web page and do the tasks allocated for the current day. Tomorrow do the tasks allocated just for that day. Don’t even LOOK at the tasks prepared for the other days – you will get to that. Small steps today, small steps tomorrow, small steps the day after, is how you will win.
If you insist on doing all your house cleaning in one day, you will be so exhausted by it that you’ll not touch the housework for another month, and then you’ll be back where you are today. Now go and find today’s jobs and just DO them. No complaining allowed
Just Feeling Down
If you’re down and discouraged but you don’t know why, its important to look at where your thinking has been. Think of a garden patch. One does not need to see or know what kind of seed was planted in a garden, but when a carrot appears you know it was a carrot seed. If a tomato appears, you know it was a tomato seed that was planted. By your moods (downcast and discouraged etc), one can know that you’ve been planting bad seed (thinking on negative thoughts) into your mind. “As a man thinks, so is he.”
Need some Wise Words?
Its often the wisdom of someone who’s survived similar situations that is the most helpful. Not only can they provide wisdom, but they do so with empathy and understanding. Perhaps you could do with some great wisdom or answers to common questions.
Here’s a site with some interesting reading material and encouraging MP3s.
Life is a process of learning, discovery and overcoming seemingly impossible circumstances. I believe there’s always a way to get through.
Don’t forget to focus on the great things in your life. When something is bothering us its easy to get tunnel vision and only focus on the problem. A great way to do this is to make a list of the things we’re thankful for. Its a great way to lift your day. With a new perspective, your problem may seem much smaller, and easier to tackle.
